Romania - forthcoming opinion on amendments to the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code - visit to the country

Bucharest - A delegation of the Venice Commission visited Romania in the framework of the preparation of an opinion concerning the recent amendments to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code passed by the Romanian parliament. The opinion was requested by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

The delegation exchanged views with the President of Romania, the Minister of Justice, the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), Parliament representatives including the Special Parliamentary Committee for amending the laws of justice, associations of judges and prosecutors, and civil society organisations.
