Turkmenistan – roundtable on Judicial Ethics and Discipline

Ashgabat – a roundtable on “Judicial Ethics and Discipline” will take place on 27 February 2014 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

This roundtable is a joint activity of the Venice Commission, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and the authorities of Turkmenistan. Participants in this meeting include representatives of the Ministry of Justice, judges from the Supreme Court as well as from lower courts. Discussions will focus on the fundamental issues pertaining to the efficiency of the judiciary, in particular on judicial ethics and judicial discipline.

A possible co-operation programme with the Venice Commission will also be discussed during meetings at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Supreme court and the Ministry of Justice.

This activity is organised by the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe within the framework of the joint project "Supporting Constitutional Justice, Access to Justice and Electoral reform in the countries of Central Asia" funded by the European Union and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
