Tokyo, Nagoya - The President of the Venice Commission, Gianni Buquicchio, was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to go to Japan to hold an exchange of views with the Japanese authorities. Accompanied by Thomas Markert, Secretary of the Commission, President Buquicchio met Mr Itsuro Terada, Chief Justice of Japan, as well as members of parliament and representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Agency for International Co-operation.
On 13 February Mr Buquicchio gave a lecture on the Venice Commission at the Center for Asian Legal Exchange (CALE) of Nagoya University.
