Kazakhstan - Roundtable on the reform of the Code of Criminal Procedure

Almaty - A roundtable on the "Reform of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan based on the principles of rule of law", organised by the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan and the Office of the Prosecutor will be held in Almaty (Kazakhstan) from 15 to 16 March 2013.

This activity is intended for judges, prosecutors and lawyers, as well as national experts involved in the reform of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The delegation of the Venice Commission will participate to present the European experience of the reform of the Criminal Code of countries like Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Spain. Over two days, participants will address the following issues:

- A new classification of crimes in the Criminal Code;
- Development of alternative dispute conflicts criminals;
- Increasing the effectiveness of the criminal proceedings and the protection of constitutional rights and freedoms.
