European Parliament, Brussels – The Venice Commission participated in a high level conference on “The future of international election observation”. This event was organised by the European Parliament's Democracy Support and Election Coordination Group (DEG) and the European External Action Service of the European Commission. The conference discussed new challenges that observer organisations had to take into account in their observation processes, including the use of digital technologies and social networks, but also violence during electoral processes.
