Paris - Venice Commission organises in cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the French National Assembly a conference on the implementation of the right to free elections. The challenge of implementing electoral legislation and compliance with standards of the Council of Europe will be the central issues of the conference.
This event is the first parliamentary conference of its kind dealing with electoral matters. It is organised within the Framework Programmatic Cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries. Elected officials from six countries, beneficiaries of the Eastern Partnership, and members of other member countries of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will meet with representatives of election administrations, non-governmental organisations involved in election observation as well as with experts from the Venice Commission, other institutions of the Council of Europe and representatives of other international organisations.
This activity falls in the framework of the Programmatic Cooperation Framework (PCF) for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
