Nur-sultan - The Venice Commission organised on 26th February 2021 in cooperation with the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan an international roundtable on the question of referral of the decisions to the Constitutional Council by ordinary courts. The roundtable brought together representatives from various national institutions of Kazakhstan (Presidential administration, Parliament, members and staff of the Constitutional Council, scientific institutions, and representatives from non-governmental bodies).
This roundtable was organised at the request of the Constitutional Council of Republic of Kazakhstan as part of a wider reform project aiming to improve the legal framework of the Council.
The event has been financed by the joint Council of Europe – European Union project for Central Asia “Promoting Efficient Functioning of State Institutions and Public Administration”. The project is part of the broader “Central Asia Rule of Law Programme” financed by the Council of Europe and the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
