Under the auspices of the German Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, a roundtable on “Regulation in the 21st Century“ was jointly organised by the Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe and the Permanent Representation of Switzerland to the Council of Europe.
The purpose of this event was to foster a better understanding of how international regulation works in the 21st century while launching a first international discussion on the development and impact of soft law in particular.
Mr Martin Kuijer, the substitute member of the Venice Commission in respect of the Netherlands, intervened in the session on the challenges of soft law for the rule of law and democracy.
