Kyiv, 4 December 2023 – The second meeting under the High-Level Dialogue “Good Democratic Governance in Ukraine: achievements, challenges and the way forward in post-war period” brought together key national stakeholders who discussed perspectives for good democratic governance reforms in Ukraine and reach broad agreement to improve legal framework on multi-level governance and elections in light of European standards, good practice and Ukraine’s status of the EU candidate country.
The opening addresses were delivered by Oleksandr Korniyenko, First Deputy Chairperson of the Parliament of Ukraine, and Mathieu Mori, Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (video address). A representative of the Venice Commission also participated in this event.
The High-Level Dialogue meetings took place in the framework of the Council of Europe Programme “Strengthening Good Democratic Governance and Resilience in Ukraine” and the Project “Supporting democratic post-war elections in Ukraine” implemented under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” 2023 – 2026.
