ONE YEAR INTO THE WAR OF AGGRESSION OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AGAINST UKRAINE - Statement by the President of the Venice Commission

24/02/2023

Paris - Today, the President of the Venice Commission Ms Claire Bazy Malaurie made the following statement:

“On behalf of the Venice Commission, I wish to convey my continued support for the Ukrainian people who for one year has been courageously and strenuously resisting the unprovoked aggression by the Russian Federation.

The Venice Commission upholds the pursuit of peace based on justice and international cooperation, with full respect for the Council of Europe’s core values – democracy, human rights and the Rule of law - and resolutely condemns recourse to violence and contempt for the international legal order.

The Commission stands with Ukraine and will continue to work with it for the protection of our common principles and values.”
