Bucharest – Upon invitation by the Constitutional Court of Romania, Mme Claire Bazy-Malaurie, President of the Venice Commission, participated in the opening of the event devoted to the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the 1923 Constitution of Romania.
The event, which was held at the Palace of the Parliament of Romania, brought together the highest offices of the state, as well as representatives of the judiciary of Romania, judges of the European constitutional courts, the European Court of Justice and the Association of the Francophone Constitutional Courts.
In the context of her visit to Romania, the President of the Venice Commission also met with the Minister of Justice of Romania to follow-up on Venice Commission’s previous opinions on Romania, held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Constitutional Court of Romania and met with a delegation of students of the Law faculty of the University of Bucharest, with which she held a dialogue on the rule of law and the role of the Venice Commission.
